A lady on the forum PMed me about what specific book repair supplies I use from Demco. I thought it might be helpful to copy it here as well. It can be very overwhelming to sort through all the different glues, tapes, supplies. HTH someone.
Clear book tape. I use this on hardback spines that need minor reinforcement or repair and on paperback spines that I don’t cover with laminate. The laminate covers the entire cover of the book. The book tape covers only the spine. Get the 4″ width. http://www.demco.com/goto?BLS6144&ALL0000&es=20120415155838332737
Also you’ll need Scotch brand tape in the green packaging. A must for repairing those little tears on pages.
I think that’s pretty much it for 99% of repair. You can also search for book cleaner if you have need of that for hardbacks. It’s very effective and it’s amazing how dirty books can get! They also have clear choice book savers which are heavy plastic covers that your books fit into if you have very special books that need protection. I’ve bought some of these. You order by the size of your book.
Hope this helps. There are SO many products on that site it can be very overwhelming. Please let me know if you need help. I’m all about rescuing those precious books. 🙂
