Searching for a birthday book recommendation for our niece who is turning eight.  She is a sweet girly-girl and likes baking, crafting, and fashion.  TIA!  🙂

A big hit over here is the All of a Kind family series.  It’s about a Jewish family (5 girls and a little boy) living in the early 1900’s in NYC and the everyday adventures they have.

My just-turned-9 year old has been loving Ramona Quimby. Heidi is a bit difficult for her yet, but is her favorite read aloud. The Little House series is timeless, especially if she likes history.  Hope this helps!

Thank you for the ideas! I purchased a nice hardbound copy of ‘The Secret Garden’ at B&N for $10. Just what I had in mind – I loved that book when I was a little girl. 🙂
