I just ordered a great book on manners called “Everyday Graces”. This book is just wonderful! I just started it with my children as one of our many read alouds and I will have to say it is just fine to read to various age groups and it is not your typical book on manners. It is compiled with excerpts from great books, poems, and quotes from famous people in history to teach manners. Each chapter has several different stories covering one topic, such as honoring you mother and father, or helping out at home, taming the tongue, and several others. Example, today, the story was Ch. 31 from the book “The Princess and the Goblin” by George McDonald, and then a poem called “The Robin Redbreasts”. All ties in with the lesson of honoring mother and father…..neat book, and might be one to check out if you’re interested! Just thought I’d mention it on here!
I have been looking for something like this. We’ve been reading through a series called “Polite Moments” which has some great advice, just no stories to tie the lessons into. Thanks for the recommendation!
Faith 🙂
