For Christmas my 7 yr old (almost 8) received an inappropriate book from one of her grandmothers.  I would like to replace it with a living book that would be most cherished by her.  We have a lot of books (homeschoolers of 18 yrs) and am struggling to figure out what to get.

    Any suggestions?

What about a handicrafts type book? My girls are 7 and 11 and both love the Klutz series. They each received one from Grandpa last weekend. The 7 year old got the Spiral Draw title, the 11 year old received Paper Beads: Turning Simple Strips of Paper into Beautiful Beaded Jewelry. Both have been used a lot already and they love them.

Klutz also has a younger line of books under the series name “Chicken Socks” you could check out.

For a living book we just picked up some of the Barefoot Books titles (they usually come with audio CD too for listening to the stories). Most are beautifully illustrated. Some titles I noticed:

    The Barefoot Book of Princesses

    The Barefoot Book of Knights

    The Barefoot Book of Pirates

The Barefoot Book of Classic Poems

The Barefoot Book of Animal Tales

    Shakespeare’s Storybook

    Adventure of Odysseus

oo, or what about her very own set of Little House on the Prairie or Anne of Green Gables books or The Chronicles of Narnia? Or The Secret Garden? One that is her very own.
