Good morning, everyone! I have a 9 year old daughter who loves to sit down and flip through magazines (just like her mama!). I was wondering if anyone could suggest a bible-based magazine that was aimed towards young girls. I looked into the Girlhood Home Companion but they aren’t printing those anymore (only back issues…which could get us started). Anyone care to share suggestions or experiences? Thank you!
I have two girls, 9 and 7, and we get God’s World News (two different aged magazines … one for 1-2 grade and one for 3-4 grade) as well as More and Adventure from Lifeway. We keep them in our morning basket for worldview current events. As a family we read and pray over Voice of the Martyrs.
We also subscribe to God’s World News just like above for our 2 girls (ages 9 ad 6). They really like it, and read it immediately. This is also the first magazine that they have ever been interested in.
Not a girl magazine but wonderful: The National Wildlife Federation puts out a magazine called Ranger Rick (and Rick Jr for youngers). It is so great especially for sparking interest in nature!
By the way, can I just express a concern about magazines? I see you’re picky about magazines. That’s great. I’ll just briefly share my personal experience in case it’s of use to anyone. My mom really encouraged me to read magazines and found magazines for young women (although not Biblical). I can’t count how many times I wished I had never been introduced to magazines! My main problems were with the material and false photos. Anyhoo. Those are mainstream teen magazines though. I’d venture to guess no one on this forum is on the market for these magazines for their daughters so this whole point is moot. 🙂
