Has anyone ever used this bible curriculum? A good friend recommended it but I am not sure how CM it is and if it is too much busy work.

I have not used it. My only thought is to be aware that most of the program is not yet available. In the store when you download the PDF price guide you see that the four units for a year are not released yet for most ages, just unit 1, with anticipated release dates for the other 3 units at different points between this winter and 2015. It is a bit confusing though, so they may have a single teacher’s guide ready for one age level all the way through already, I wasn’t able to tell for sure.

I do think it is thorough. I’ve not used it, but am considering it for the future.

I purchased the beginner student pages (3yo-K) for the first 26 lessons. My ds (just turned 6) loves it!!! My only issue is that is takes about 30 minutes to do each lesson. He is so engaged in the lesson he justs colors away as I read from the bible and we discuss. Since it does take longer, I moved these lessons to the afternoon during my youngest naptime. My ds just started enjoying color the last few months and the lessons have lots of fun coloring so he is really enjoying the activities. I am going to purchase the beginner timeline and song CD. I will play the CD in the car and the timeline cards will be good for days that we need a shorter lesson.

We started using this curriculum today. I have beginner, intermediate, and advanced pages. Doing it with 3, 5, , 8, & 11 year olds. We love it too!

Thank you for sharing. I would like to try this Bible study too for our family. I would like student pages for ages 6 and 9. Are there any for adults too? I am having a hard time figuring out what I need to order to implement this study. Please advise.

I ordered Beginner pages for ds3, Intermediate pages for dd5 and ds8 (Primary would be better for dd5, but I didn’t want the extra parent book or work and she is reading well, so it’s working fine.), Advanced for dd11 and Advanced Teacher for me (just so I can keep on track).
Today was the first day, but we really enjoyed it and I liked the flow.

Thank you. I also found a page on their site to be helpful in choosing the right materials. It sounds like I can do the student pages without any guide for intermediate level.

yes, that’s right. I didn’t buy a guide. I only bought the teacher key sheets for one level so I could follow along easily.

@missceegee – are you going to use the wall map, time line or bible summary cards? The time line seems to be quite large. Since I am only in beginner we are going to use the beginner time line cards.

Carolyn, I am not using the wall map or timeline. The timeline is printed on the student pages, so that suffices. I did get the Bible summary cards and I like them a lot. I didn’t get the beginner timeline, but should have for ds3.

I found this post while looking for feedback on the SCM bible studies. I am curious if any of you are using the SCM bible studies in addition to Bible Study Guides, or if you have used them in the past and how you liked them or if not, why are you not using the SCM bible studies? I have a 13 yr old whom I would like to find a good self study for. TIA for your input.

My boys are still young (6yo and 3yo) so I do not have any experience with SCM bible studies. I am sure someone will have input that have used the SCM bible studies.

I’ve been using this curriculum for the past year and a half. My 3rd grader, who is an “advanced” reader has been using the intermediate pages the entire time. My 1st grader, who is just really starting to read things such as Dick and Jane, still uses the beginner pages. The primary pages are relatively new and all four units of that level have not yet been released. I have not moved him up to the intermediate level because the comprehension level is quite a big jump from the beginner level. We take two days per lesson. The beginner pages just have a paraphrasing of the scripture whereas the intermediate level actually reads the scripture. Since we do ours together, we read the scripture followed by the paraphrasing. On the second day we do the back of the worksheet. The “apply it” section on the beginner pages is a bit too simplified for my 7-year-old so we do the “apply it” section from the intermediate section since we’re working together anyway. I haven’t ordered the wall timeline simply because we tend to do our bible lessons on the couch and it’s easier to just look at the timeline on the back of the intermediate worksheets. I love how much they (and I) have learned from these. I’m just now beginning the process of incorporating them to work with the history module 5. I have long been wanting to tie history and bible together more, but I didn’t want to give up BSGFAA since my boys look forward to this each day. I plan to create a Book of Centuries together and include pertinent events of the Bible as we study them to replace the timeline on the worksheets. I hope that information is helpful.
