  • We have tried scripture adventures and the green leaf guide to the old testament.  My 7yo is bored to death and never wants to do it. THey are both really well written, but the fact that they are written for all ages is just not working for us. I like what Simply Charlotte Mason offers, but I think that will be saved for when we can do it with more than one child and I will perhaps save the green leaf until he ca do it on his own.

I think we will just concentrate on British history and geography for now. We have just a short time left in England and want to take advantage of it.

I would really like a bible study for grade 2 or early elementary kids specifically that works from Creation on.   It does not need to have history or geography.  Are there any such ones and if so are they worth while? Thanks

Ohh we are Fundamental Baptist’s who only use the the KVJ. If that help you give me any advice.

    THANKS!!!

Have you looked at Queen Homeschool? They have a few Bible studies for elementary age. It appears you look up the passages yourself, thus using your preferred version. I am considering these for my ds, when we reach a point that he is able. They have a sample of each study to give you an idea of what it is like. Hope that helps.

For that age, we have been using Penny Gardner’s suggested list of bible readings, and keeping a bible journal with a short summary of what was read, and any thoughts to go along with it.

I’m currently using Penny Gardner. When we finish, I’m thinking about using this:

Samples are available on the site.

Thank you all. I will look into all of those options!

Gaeleen- I have Penny Gardner’s bible story list printed out. I looked though and noticed that. He is a reluctant reader and writer so I have to be careful not to give him too much in the way of journaling. I do like this idea for when he is a bit older and not so down on his writing ability and my brain is functioning better!

Melissa- The ones on Queen Homeschool look very nice. I will keep those in mind when we are ready to concentrate on specifics. I really like some of the ones for older children!

nerakr- the ones on Anne Elliot’s cite are wonderful. She talks not only about the scripture but the Bible itself. I think for right now this is what we are looking for. I really need something that takes all the work out and does it. My brain is fried from over 11 months of no sleep.

    Thank you all
