Hi friends, my husband and I would like to do a Bible study together in the evenings. This is a big step for our relationship so I really want it to go well. We both grew up in Christian homes and churches, but I think my dh has always felt a little intimidated by my knowledge (not that I know so much but went to Christian school/college, always in a Bible study, etc) so while we talk about God and opporate our family following Godly principles, we have never really connected well with our faith on a personal level b/w the two of us. I hope that makes sense, my husband and I are strong Christians and our faith is the number one part of both of our lives but we don’t study the Word together. So my question is do any of you have recommendations for a Bible study we could do. We don’t want to do a marriage or family type study but are looking for a study of Acts or a study of Galatians or something where we are studying the Bible. I didn’t want to go to our local Christian book store and ask for a couple’s Bible study that didn’t have anything to do with couples! Oh, and it can’t be cheesy, my husband (and I!) will hate that! Thanks so much!
Hey you could just decide to study Acts together. Maybe go by a chapter a week and during the week you each study and go deeper with commentaries of your choice, etc, (record thoughts and notes in your own notebook) then talk together on a chosen day each week about what you have learned and I’ll bet each of you has some pretty amazing insights into the passage that encourage each other. :o)
Actually, Sonya’s new book – GOAL Bible Study Journal – would be perfect. It covers Galatians and other epistles and is just enough of a help along the way. I also like Kay Arthur’s Inductive Bible Studies.
Just a couple of ideas.
Blessings,
Christie
