    Good Friday, everyone,

Which book of the Bible do you suggest one study for the first time?

My 13yo ds has expressed his own desire to begin a personal study of the Bible but isn’t sure where to begin. We recently purchased Balancing the Sword as a study tool.

Which book of the Bible would you encourage your dc to start with and why?

    Grateful for you!

Not sure of just one but the book of John because it’s a beautiful picture of how Jesus sees a need and meets the need. Daniel, or 1 and 2 Timothy for young men. Ephesians for spiritual warfare. Romans for the gospel message to be solidified.

Our pastor preached a baccalaureate service this past Sunday (no hser’s in the group). Just before the sermon he gave each of the seniors a Bible. Part of his sermon was encouraging them to read the Bible daily while in college. He suggested they begin with 1 John and then go to the Gospel of John.

You can’t go wrong with any of them…even though you might want to steer him away from Song of Soloman (Songs) 🙂 at this point in time. Save that one for later.

I would go with 1 John also. It is a great book and is a quick read.
