Beyond the Book Report 3–confused

We just broke open the package yesterday. I watched the teacher-only video and started reading through the teacher guide. I am confused because it says the student will choose books to read and write about but the lessons seem to be about already-included short stories, such as The Tell-Tale Heart. Am I missing something here? Maybe this section was referring to BBR1 and 2 which he completed last year??
