Beyond the Book Report

    My son is in 11th grade.  He has done very little writing including very little narrating.  This year he is doing more written narrations which do include essay questions.  I’m looking at Beyond the Book Report.  Would you put him in season 3 or start at the beginning with season 1  ?

    Or, just continue with written narrations and not do Beyond the book report?

    SCM used to suggest Teaching the Essay and Teaching the Research Paper both by Analytical Grammar.  Now AG has the Beyond the Book Report series which replaced the two papers (season 3 only).  My two oldest I did both the Essay and Research Paper, my third child, I dropped the Essay because I don’t foresee him going to college and will likely do the same with my lasts one.  The Research Paper method they teach is excellent, so you might opt to do that.  My kids do that their senior year.  I have them write one with me and then one on their own.
