There is a great blog post here about the 5 best toys of all time. I think they are especially great for boys, but most girls enjoy them too. Any budget can afford them.

And if you read the comments, you will find another 5 or so toys that were or should have been contenders for the 5 best title…
I do think these miss the “wow” factor a bit, but I’ll agree that these are the toys most played with!

Um, pretty much spot on! We live in the country and those are the toys of choice all the time. They did neglect Legos and trains tho. 😉

We live in the city and have a pretty good size lot – and those are the number one choices for my dds too! I liked his suggestions in his other post for #6 on the list as well.

yeah, that was in the comments.
Hard to wrap for Christmas and have the kids go WOW when they open them…..

However, I am debating (from extra good toys in the comments) getting my son a box, filled with bubble wrap, a roll of duct tape, good scissors, a roll of string, and see what happens.

My son wanted bungie cords…. Had to laugh at that suzukimom 🙂 duct tape is probably #2.

I am adding rolls of tape in my kids’ stockings, they go thorugh mine like crazy! 🙂

Yes! Great article. The day I first read it I laughed so hard and then realized my boys own and had played with four of the five that same day. It was a bit cold for dirt, though we do have some outside. I guess my husband and I over-indulge our children, what with making sure they have the 5 best toys of all time!
