at that age my daughter enjoyed rolling a ball around, pop-up/cause and effect toys, stacking blocks/cups and some stuffed animals. Her favorite toy was my husband, the jungle gym 😉 I’d often give her some plastic cups/bowls and a big spoon and let her pretend with/stack/drum on those. My sister used to stick my nephews in their high chairs and give them an ice cube or two while she was making dinner. I never tried it, but she swears by it that it’d keep them busy for a good half hour.
I’m with you on the toy exchange club! (Even though my DD is now 8 years and 10 months 😉 ) We sort of had one for a while since she and my nephew are 14 months apart, but then they started liking different things, so that didn’t work anymore.
Yeah…when they get a little older the boxes, etc.work great…but right now anything that can get chewed up will…and well, it’s maybe best if he doesn’t eat boxes!! Although I have to confess to looking the other way sometimes until it really does become a problem! Right now, that’s half the problem! Everything that isn’t good for him is so very interesting, and sometimes all too available (working on that though) with so many older sibs in the house too. Anyway, I certainly don’t mean to complain! I wouldn’t trade this season of life for anything. Just figured some of these ladies would have at least one or two ideas I haven’t thought of…and sure enough! If a few more people chime in, I’ll have a new arsenal of ideas!
I do need to get a high chair! And I’ll have to check out that link too. But you’re probably right. No matter how many baby toys we have, more than likely they’ll not be as interesting as real things!
