I don’t know how many of you have invested in Roar! A Christian Family Guide to the Chronicles of Narnia but you should! We just finished The Magician’s Nephew and my kids are making their own Narnia’s in pie tins. The have little rocks, sea shells, plastic lions and animals, decorator sand, silk flowers, and little circle mirrors that I picked up at the craft store for the ponds. I have not seen my kids in two hours! The only thing I bought was the pie tins, decorator sand (we don’t have any clean sand here), and the mini mirrors which total about nine dollars for two kids (though we have enough stuff for 3). We also picked up a swag of a pine branch for 5 cents from a garage sale and cut it apart for trees. I am not sure if boys would like this activity too but the girls are LOVING it! My dd6 has a Kit Kitteredge paper doll standing in for Polly. Kids are so cool.
Have any of you done any other cool activities to make the other books come alive?
What was your Turkish Delight recipe? We tried one that we googled a few years back and it ended up a sticky puddle! We do have a good ethnic section at our local grocery store that includes to flavors of Turkish Delight but making it is so much more educational, it would just be nice if it turned out somewhat edible!
