I noticed on the sample CM schedule beginning reading was only listed three days a week.  Is this what folks follow?  do you do more or less and how has that worked?

I work daily with my “learning to read” student.  I did the same with my oldest.  It is best to keep the lesson or reading time short though.  That is my opinion and experience.  I would not recommend only 3 days per week.

I do daily too …when I have my act together (seldom ever happens for more than 3-4 days in a row).  So, I guess that’s somewhere in between in reality. But also notice that those schedules show a variety of possibilities, i.e. the “science day” schedule has reading every day.

I have a learning to read child right now. We do reading lessons Monday-Thursday because we only school 4 days a week. But we have hit the point where she can read enough that she is trying to read things. So everywhere we go she is reading signs and looking a books and gets really excited when she can read a word. I guess you would call that life learning

We do only 3 days a week here, and it works well.  We also keep the lessons short and sweet.  10 minutes at most.
