    Hey y’all,

    I would love some help picking our next bedtime read-aloud for my 6 year old son.  We just finished Here’s a Penny and its sequel, Penny and Peter.  Before that, we read Little Pear.  I’m looking for something light, with short chapters (it is bedtime after all!).  My son enjoys books about kids more than he does those with talking animals as the main characters.

    Eloise Wilkin Stories, Little Golden Books Treasury

    Beverly Cleary’s Two Times the Fun

    Robert McCloskey stories

    Clyde Robert Bulla stories

    Mr Popper’s Penguins

    Children’s books by William J. Bennett (Book of Virtues)

    Dolphin Adventure and other dolphin stories by Wayne Grover.  Animals do not talk; based on true stoies of a scuba diver.  Exciting, short chapters.

    Twenty and Ten

    In Grandma’s Attic and 3 more books in the set

    We love Herriot!  And Farmer Boy was an all-time greatest read-aloud so far.  But we haven’t tried All of a Kind yet…
