I have read through old threads and found some suggestions already, but really wanted to ask again. My son is almost 7 and listens to audio books to go to sleep at night. I’ve gotten some at the library, but find from time to time that I end up with a book with “scary” parts or too active for night (Hank the Cowdog). He has listened to many, many books this way, but doesn’t like to repeat them too soon.
I want to make him some from the free online audios. I also have the Ambleside Librivox list, and may use some of the Year 2 books, since he has the Year 1 ones.
What do you suggest? Are there some audios that would be worth buying? We have two younger sons to pass through. I’d be interested to know about books that have good boy role models since we are all boy here. Is he too young for Robin Hood and Swiss Family Robinson?
I did not see this on the Ambleside list. I haven’t listened to anymore than some of the Christopher Columbus one. Someone on this forum told me about it:
There is another mp3 audiobook I ordered recently that is also a Lamplighter book: True Stories of Great Americans for Young Americans. The audio is Jim Hodges. Haven’t listened to it yet, but can’t wait to!
They may also enjoy the Adventures in Odyssey history episodes:
