I was just looking at the Typical Schedule that is listed on this website.  I was wondering what Assigned Reading exactly means.  Is it just literature books that you have your child to read at a certain pace?  Is it the independent history readings?  Or is it both?  And, if it is both, how do you schedule that?  Thanks!

For us, it’s both. My kids read from a variety of books each day. Ex. follows.

    Maybe a Monday is:

    • Bible
    • Science
    • Literature
    • Geography

    Tuesday is:

    • Bible
    • History
    • Literature
    • Economics

Assigned Reading refers to any independent reading that is assigned for history or geography or Bible, Christy. For example, you may read from one history book and narrate all together as a Family, but your older student may also have some assigned reading from another history book on that day. It could also include independent Bible studies that are assigned.

Got it!  Thanks so much for clearing that up for me!  So what would be a typical amount of independent reading for a 6th grader and a 4th grader?  Not the length of reading, but the total number of books that are read out of?

    Thanks!  🙂
