Dear friends, would you please pray for me and my four daughters as we travel to Colorado? As many of you know, my youngest has autism, so she will be challenged for the next week as we fly in an airplane (her first time), hang out in airports (with all the sensory input), eat meals someone else has planned (she’s on a GF diet), sleep in a different bed and use different bathrooms (can be a huge issue), be around lots of new people (with their voices and attempts at interaction), stay up in the mountains in a camp (away from her familiar room and toys), and follow the group’s schedule (instead of her beloved routines).
Hannah has been excited about this trip, but this morning I’m seeing some early signs of “meltdown.” Please pray for grace to be in abundance and for wisdom as I try to guide her through this adventure. We fly out tomorrow at noon and come home next Thursday late. I should have limited Internet access, so I will try to keep you all posted.
Thank you so much! It’s such a comfort to know that my brothers and sisters in Christ are praying for us.
Sonya, it is a pleasure and privilege to pray for your sweet girl. Hannah will be in my thoughts this week. I pray she feels comfortable and secure. I pray she sees our Lord in a whole new way through His beautiful Colorado mountains and that she can connect with others because of her new delights. I pray the people around her are sensitive to her needs. I pray you feel peace.
Having an autistic son, I feel overwhelmed just reading your post. But you know we serve a great big God! Bigger than autism!!! I’m praying that He will touch you and Hannah and provide for your each and every need, as He promised.
Sonya – my best friend has a child with autism and we have seen first hand the challenges she faces, especially when there were changes in routine. We actually made our military move from Europe back to the States with them and they had many challenges with the travel, waiting and new routines. So with that, we will definitely keep you all in our prayers for a smooth trip and time away. Hopefully it will be a good trip for you all and a small step for her in learning about new things and new stimuli and adjusting to it all. May God give you the strength and peace to get through all that comes your way. Blessings for a safe and wonderful trip. Linda
I’ll definitely ask God to bring peace to Hannah’s heart and mind… and give you insight into her needs throughout this next week. We went through a very major transition over this past week and our dd who has autism is handling it well with only a few bumps along the way. May your time be filled with beautiful moments together!
Yes, we will keep you and your family in prayer. With a son who is on a GF-Diet and has issues with changes in routine bothering him/his diet and bathroom… ect. I completely understand your worries there. Then add in the added aspects of your daughter with autism, we will pray for you all.
“The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever. The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.” Psalm 29:10-11
I pray the Lord will give you wisdom, strength and peace as well as physical safety during your travel.
My prayers are with you! May God bless your daughter with new insight and you with wisdom to see and act before anything starts down a bad road. Blessings Misty
Dear friends, I have only a couple of minutes at this Panera Bread before we head back up the mountain 10,000 feet here in Colorado. Thanks so much for all your prayers. God’s grace has been covering us from the airplane rides to the room arrangements to the meals . . . everything I expressed concern about. Please pray us home again on Thursday! I miss you all and am looking forward to having my Internet back soon!
We’re home and praising God for a good trip! Thank you so much for all your prayers.
I wish you all could have seen Hannah’s face during the four take-offs. I talked her through the first one so she would know what was happening. But on the other three she had the biggest grin on her face!
The Lord just poured grace upon our pathway, and we are grateful!
