I suppose this question could have gone in with a less formal forum, but I hope nobody minds that I chose to post here instead. I am trying to fill our home with visual reminders of family. We will also be re-doing a bedroom in the near future in praparation for our new baby- the room’s not for the baby, but for his/her older siblings (3 of them- the older 2 already share the room, and we’re moving their brother in with them. BTW, I’m not looking for a discussion on shared sibling rooms. Been there, done that.) Now we’ll get to why I posted here: I’m looking for Artists and/or prints that foster sibling relationships. I and my children all love art and enjoy picuture study, so it just makes sense to me to incorporate the “real” stuff into the rest of our home and lives rather than just the school room wall where we hang the prints we’re studying. Afterall, “education is an atmosphere”, right?
We all like impressionism, especially Mary Cassatt, but I’m having a hard time finding more sibling scenes, rather than mother/child scenes for their room from her, and would like to find some things with a similar feel to them.
Also, for a more old fashioned feel, I really like Frederick Morgan. Look him up at http://www.art.com and there a lot of sweet pictures. I have “May I Serve You” and love it. I had the exact same desire in looking for artwork for our home, to not only encourage sibling affection but also to foster Godly motherhood images for myself!
Renoir has some really sweet sister pictures, as well. For boys, Norman Rockwell and N.C. Wyeth.
We imagine it to be three sisters reading together.
Also, there are a couple of Winslow Homer paintings that feature boys/brothers:
In the Mowing
Boys in a Pasture
Also, I know this is quite a stretch, but if I could find another copy of the book Do You Know What I’ll Do? by Charlotte Zolotow (the one illustrated by Garth Williams), I’d frame some of the full-page illustrations from that book. You can see an example of the artwork HERE.
I’m looking forward to hearing more ideas from others, too!

P.S. I’d never heard of Robert Duncan, and I LOVE his artwork! Thanks for sharing!
I really like Amanda Dunbar – she is a young artist (had her first showing at 18-19? years of age) Love her colors and subjects. She likes to paint children, and has done some of her siblings and herself for her mom. =)
