Artist/Picture Study for Christmas Season

    Hi,

    I am looking for suggestions for an artist or particular picture for study during the Christmas season. Any suggestions?

    Rembrandt is a terrific artist to study for Christmas. I have a lovely little book called Rembrandt: the Christmas Story which pairs Rembrandt’s Christmas paintings with text from the Bible. Or you could easily find pictures online.

    This site has lots and lots of Christmas paintings (that celebrate Christ!) and artists listed. I will warn you, though, that one that I clicked on led me to a different website that has some challenging advertisements along the top that were not picked up by our internet protection. I can’t remember which painting it was, though; sorry.

    Thank so much ladies!! I am going to try to find the Rembrandt book and I have already been to the websites.

    We are new to the Charlotte Mason method and I am trying to break my family in slowly.

    I’m hoping that tying the art/artist to Christmas will make it more interesting and help them appreciate it more.

    I’ll probably have more questions soon!

    We love Norman Rockwell. He has some great Christmasy paintings. One of them is set in Jerusalem and very interesting.

    Yes, we did Rockwell last year. I completely forgot about him. My boys really enjoyed the front page spreads.
