Hey, there was a link in this quarter’s Classical Teacher that I thought might help answer the “why teach Latin” question that comes up.  This is only the first part in what looks to be a three-part series but still, it’s good reading, although I personally give less importance to the first reason mentioned.

I checked out English from the Roots up and that book alone convinced me (finally) why Latin/Greek roots are important to learn! I’ll be sure to share this article with dh so he can see that I’m not crazy when we start Latin! lol Money mouth

Thanks. I plan to teach Latin. I think it was an earlier post from you, Bookworm, that convinced me already. But isn’t it recommended to start at grade 5 or 6 or what grade?

Hm… all these years I thought I was an alumnus… when really I’m an alumna.  Who knew?

(oh yeah, someone who took latin…)

We started latin this year and it’s going slow but steady. At least we’re trying!:0)
