Ok so I found a great resource that I will be using for my 3rd – 8th graders next year for art. Teaching about lines, colors etc.
now what do I do with my to be 2, 4, & 6 yr olds? i need some simple ideas that they can be doing at the same time that does NOT involve a scissors as my 6yr old son still thinks it’s neat to scare the “beeep” out of mom by holding it near his sisters hair.
Couple things I thought of: stickers, makers/crayons, playdoh, finger painting..
Just wanted to say that we found some nice scissors at the local pharmacy – they are plastic and won’t cut anything but paper – although I haven’t tried them on hair – maybe I should 😀
One thing my little ones really like are using our nice colored pencils.
I will make them books with left-over paper. Cut up paper that has printing on part of it. Or you can use 3×5 index cards. Staple a “cover” to the front and back. They will choose a topic and stay busy sometimes for an hour!
The little books are nice, bc they can then narrate a story to go with the art and then read them again and again. I feel like it is something that won’t end up in the “round file” tomorrow.
And I am going to try the chalk on darker paper. Haven’t done that in a long while!
