We are going through Spelling Wisdom Book One and have completed almost all the way to lesson 80. Should I go back an review the old spelling wods from time to time?
I’ve been wondering this, too. We are not that far into it, but I’ve been making a list of the spelling words and reviewing some as we go. I’m interested to hear what others have done.
Many of the most commonly used words will be reviewed naturally as they are included in subsequent passages. There isn’t any systematized review in place in the Spelling Wisdom exercises; it’s a much more organic approach (if you want to call it that). You can use the index to see if a particular word will be included in an upcoming exercise. However, feel free to keep a running list on the side of words that your student spent extra time studying and systematically review them if you think it’s needed.
I never did, myself, but I seem to recall some moms mentioning that they kept a list of any words their children missed and then asked the student how that word was spelled either orally or in writing once or twice during the weeks after the dictation.
Any of you who do a version of this, feel free to chime in with specifics.
