    Hi There,

I’m typing with one finger while I nurse. I’ve been really convicted lately to be a more intentional mom and to become a woman of prayer. I’m sure I would have a more peaceful heart and happy home, if I was more intentional about spending time with the Lord. But it’s been quite hard lately, recuperating from a traumatic delivery and having a colicky newborn after 8 yrs of no babies. I don’t want to waste any of this time, but cherish it. I find myself, instead reacting to things and running on empty during the day. With the baby and her latch on issues, I can’t really do a whole lot of reading. But I can use my iPhone. So far, I use it to check emails (mostly all spam) and FB and read the blogs on my Google Reader.

I was wondering if I could make better use of my phone? I do have an audio Bible on there and some spiritual books though it is hard for me to do some heavy reading on it. Are there any apps or websites that bless you that I can use to keep me close to the Lord? I did download Ann Voskamp’s app for the 1,000 Gifts and m trying to use that more.

I’d also love your thoughts on balancing technology/Internet time. There are so many good, godly places on the Internet, but I wonder sometimes if it’s also over-stimulating or more distracting than truly blessing? Maybe the key to having a quiet heart is unplugging more rather than finding more ways to redeem it? Ah, deep thoughts floating in my head this evening. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

    Blessings, Betty

I don’t know if there’s an app, but I’m really enjoying the book “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young for a devotional.  They are short and inspiring…as if Jesus is speaking to you.  Lots of encouragement to be in His Presence, have peace in all circumstances, etc. I also remember a mom once saying that when her kids were young she kept an open Bible on her kitchen counter so she could glean God’s Word, even if in bits while taking care of it all. Hope you and baby are doing well and you find something inspirational!  Blessings, Gina

Thats a great idea Gina! I’ve heard of the bible on the counter too. I need to put God’s Word in very visible and accessible places!
