ummm… that may be genius. I would be even tempted to do the switch out weekly! One week Zoo1, one week Zoo2, one week Zoo3, and work through the books over 2 years that way!

Would have look over the chapters to see if it would work out.

The only other book we have gotten to do Zoo 1 with is a bird guide to have in our backpack.

my DS does better when I tear our the math sheets and he only has the day’s work before him. He hasn’t seemed to mind the notebook though. I think what momto2blessings said about them having a certain pride in their book rings true here. When we started them, I read to them how the book was meant to become a reference guide they make for themselves and that in the end they would enjoy their work. I am sure that would ring true with making your own note book too if you approached it like that. For me, it is one less thing to think about each day. Just sit down and get going on it. I am also one who is fond of the right tools for the job. There is always that, lol.

I would guess you could mix it up.  You could do Astronomy one day, Botany another, Zoology another.  You may want to go without the projects w/ this approach but it sounds like fun to me.  It would be neat to see which of your children get excited for which lesson.

Any one use “A Reason for Science?”  I have heard this is a good supplement, giving lots of info on lots of stuff over time.  I’m not sure though.  It’s been on my “list” to check out.  I think it may be a good supplement to Science if you go a term or two w/ out any?  Any thoughts?

Interesting thought…this way you could schedule Botany and Astronomy for warmer months for out-door projects.

Back to the question re:  the notebook pages that you print from the website — we’ve used those and have liked them.  We’ve also done the journals, and I feel like they can get to be a bit much.  They’re really great too, but there is a lot to do there for most kids, imo.  They would be best for a child who really likes drawing and writing.
