Anyone used Garrard Discovery Books?

I was wondering if anyone here has used some of the books from the Garrard Discovery Books series. If so, what did you think of them? Liz & Emily at Living Books Library have some of them listed for sale, and they say that they are about a 2nd grade reader level, so they might be good for my son. If you have used these, can you tell me if they are early chapter books?
