I’m not sure if this is some thing you are looking for, but I’ve been following the 20 Principals discussion they are doing over at ambilside’s forums. Here is the link: https://amblesideonline.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=75.
They aren’t reading through one volume at a time, but they are covering a lot of material from the original series and then adding in some great blog posts and articles to supplement the discussions. If your interested start with the Official Schedule post first to get an overview of the reading.
I made it a little ways through volume 1 last year and would love to keep going. I’m hoping to finish volume 1 and start Ourselves this year. I’m dealing with horrible morning sickness, so I’m not sure how well I can keep up.
I would be intersted, possibly, i have read 1,2, and 6 and was hoping to start another soon. but i would re read any of those too because it has been awhile:)
There are 2 other ladies who are studying Vol 6 with me IRL. However, I would be very happy to discuss it here as well. We are just finishing the introduction, and haven’t yet started chapter 1. Our goal is to read through about 15 -16 pages each month and discuss, which, I am finding, is a perfect amount. These books are so full of great information that it is a necessity, for me at least, to read a paragraph to up to a page, at the most, at a time and then digest the information, thinking on it, and keeping a written narration as I go. I also have a much greater appreciation for my children having narrated, now, for myself.
Incidentally, the reason we are reading Vol 6 is because of a variety of people recommending this as a starting point at the CMI conference. It’s CM’s “newest” book in the series, written after forty+ years of implementing her methods, and thus is much more firm in what methods work and why through numerous years experience with a variety of children and student teachers.
Anyway, would anyone like to read and discuss book 6?
I’d read book 6 with you, especially at that pace: perfect. I have read it before, but several years ago now, and I’d like to read it again with a few more years of experience (& hopefully wisdom! ;)) behind me. I’ll keep reading through Vol. 3, too.
