It has been quite some time since I have been here. But, I wanted to see if there was anyone in the Peoria area. We are in the process of trying to relocate to the area. My husband has his 3rd interview next week with a company there and a 1st interview with another company this Friday.
No, but my family is originally from there and my mother was born there. Not that it will do you any good but I was surprised that you mentioned it and it brought back some terrific childhood memories. 🙂 Thanks
How fun to see Peoria mentioned!!! I was born and raised there….my family still lives there. If you have any homeschool qu., I have a good friend who homeschools there and could ask. Unfortunately, her daughter is probably going to school in January, though. Blessings, Gina
We live about 90 miles from there. I have been there twice within the past month for work training, and the drive wasn’t so bad. I would love to go for an occasional meet-up. 🙂
They have a nice children’s museum, from what I understand, and a few museums, I think.
I live about 45 min or so from Peoria. I also know that there is a Charlotte Mason group in the area. PM me, and I will give you the contact information for the gal that started it.
As far as attractions go that April mentioned, our family has a membership to the Wildlife Prairie Park which my children thoroughly enjoy. We’ve been there twice in the last month. It’s also a great place to find a spot and follow it through the seasons for nature study. 🙂
Yes, Wildlife Prairie Park is wonderful. You’re also not too far from Springfield, IL…lots of great Lincoln sites. I hear the new Lincoln Museum is awesome…we plan to go this year since we’re studying that period. Best wishes:) Gina
How could I forget about the Wildlife Park? LOL. Our family took a trip there about 15 years ago, and it was great. I keep wanting to take DD there, but haven’t made it yet.
jacqleene, that would be an incredible place to do nature study through the seasons!! 🙂
Linda, here’s the link: http://www.wildlifeprairiestatepark.org/visit-maps.cfm. I’m not sure, but I would guess 3 hours-ish for you. I’m also about 3 hours from Peoria. The park is a lot of fun. You walk along trails and they have animals like bears, cougars, wolves, etc. roaming in enclosed woods for you to spot. Also has a nature center with pelts, info., etc. and gift shop. Sounds like there’s several of us…maybe we need to have a SCM Nature Study fieldtrip once the weather warms up:) Blessings, Gina
Shanna, I’m not in the Peoria area, but had to give you a warm WELCOME BACK! Its so good to see you here again; Hope you plan to stick around! Blessings, Heather
