I am wondering if anyone can tell me what time frame this historical account of Australia spans; or at least the beginning.

    Thanks

The first chapter doesn’t give any dates, just things like “Scientists tell us that Australia was once part of Asia. Hundreds of millions of years ago, they say, the island continent broke off and slid away.” and “Nobody knows when these first dark discoverers came into Australia. Certainly it was long ago. For thousands of years they lived in the land . . . .” Chapter 2 starts with Dutch sightings of Australia in the early 1600s, and the final chapter ends with Queen Victoria signing the document that gave the island continent a federal government — the Commonwealth of Australia — in 1901.
