I’m planing to use 106 DOCS for our science this coming year for DS who will be just turning 6 and in 1st grade. Has anyone tried or do you think it would work to add in a few more supplements on each topic and expand this over two years instead of just one?
Me! We are actually going to be doing it over 3 years. Using it about one day a week. We are going to use the other nature books as well as nature study for the other days.
You can add me on the list of going on 2 years. We started it in September and are currently starting lesson20 today. We add in a LOT of Bill Nye the Science guy videos to introduce the topic – Free on Youtube! (As always, be careful of the “millions of years ago” – but my kids know that’s a big farce, and they get SO much out of that show, that positive far out weighs the little negative.) My kids are 7 and 4.
In Nov/Dec we had no science (we do a light day schedule during that holiday time). Right now we are doing once a week – we’ll be moving it to twice a week come March, and still – it will take us a bit to get through it all, but that’s ok because we LOVE it! It’s like taking little tiny bites to make your favorite meal last a little longer!
Of course! Netflix does that to me too. The Hermie series by Max Lucado was my girls’ favorite treat to watch after school was done (if the weather is bad). Netflix only has it on DVD, no longer streaming. Very frustrating!!
