Has anyone ever got a look at these books?  My dc are 4, 2 and 1, so I dont really want to do an actual picture study with them but I thought it would be nice to have something hanging around for them to discover on their own.  They often get their picture books,..you know the ones that just have photographs of animals, etc and “read me the story” while I am cooking or doing some other chore around the house.  I grew up with the three R’s so I find myself overwhelmed with all the subjects CM covers, so I have been trying to find ways to incorporate them into our daily lives, so that when the time does come to actually start lessons it won’t all feel so foreign to me.  Anyway, since they like making up stories I thought why not do it with pictures of fine art.  I thought about ordering the Child sized Masterpieces, but I know they will be much more likely to pick it up if it is a book rather than just a picture on a card…not to mention my 1 and 2 yr olds will destroy them even if they are laminated.

I read the reviews and they said that they were good reproductions of the actual paintings, but they do have stories in them and I remembered Sonya saying not to get books that critique the work. Of course they can’t read right now but it won’t be look for my 4 yr old.  Any input or other  recommendations of something similar would be apprieciated.  Thanks

April- I have not seen those books. If you are looking for something with no critiques,  I highly recommend A Child’s Book of Art by Lucy Micklethwait. http://www.amazon.com/Childs-Book-Art-Great-Pictures/dp/1564582035
