We just started back after a long 2 week Christmas break. I always forget how hard the first day back is!! It’s like everyone’s brain gets so LAZY!! (Mine included…)
We went back yesterday after being off 4 weeks and I could almost not remember our normal routine. I ran spastically from kid to kid trying to keep everyone going before I decided it’d surely all work out eventually and settled down. LOL
Today went better even though I had to dash out to a meeting in the morning and ended up not finishing my youngest’s school assignments until 2pm. Sigh. Maybe tomorrow will be “normal”. (Question to self: what is “normal”?)
Ugh. Yeah we did too! We did not get a full day in as I had planned, but we moved a week before Christmas, and the clutter of unpacked boxes were getting to me and the kids, so we spent half the day doing that and cleaning, and the other half schooling. But considering that my entire house is clean, more boxes are unpacked, and at least some of our schooling was accomlished, I guess it was a good day!
Us too. Although we only (intentionally) did about half of what we normally do as we are getting ready to move in a couple weeks, so we also have a lot to do related to that. (I hear ya Laura.bora about the boxes and clutter everywhere!! Although we have to live with it for a couple of weeks yet.) I figured it was better to do a little bit of something even with everything going on to give the kids some kind of sense of ‘routine’ in the midst of our chaos right now…
Us too! We had a very rough morning, but I prayed (alot) and we took it slow. The afternoon was much better. I told a friend on the phone today that my brain went on vacation during the holidays and is still on the trip back or something. ;0) Part of our problem is we had lots of company and my house is still not back to normal. It was frustrating today when some things I couldn’t find. I’m trying to take it a little easy this week and get organized again.
I was going to (I planned a light day).. I did a good violin practice with the kids – then my husband woke up (he works nights) and pointed out that over the holidays, the last couple of times he tried to give me a day out/off, something happened, so he suggested I call up a friend and go out for the afternoon….. so I did!
maybe a light day tomorrow….
PS kids (including grandkids) don’t start back until Monday.
Yes, us too. It went okay….we didn’t accomplish everything I had scheduled but I guess it was pretty good for the first day back. I am excited about the fact that my 6yo was very enthusiastic about his reading lesson (Delightful Reading), hadn’t forgotten anything over break, and was able to read a short “a” book, twice….Yeah!!! I was kind of worried about this little guy and his interest in reading, but so far, so good.
I do need to pray that we get a little more accomplished tomorrow, like a narration or two.
I was about to start, and then something to told me to just get extra organized instead and clean. It felt sooo much better! My kids were playing pranks all day and it was evident that starting school would have been a bad joke too. LOL
Today is our first day back, but only math and piano, with a read aloud. Very, VERY light. 🙂
We started back yesterday, too. It went surprisingly well. Of course, I let them play while I read aloud. Ds7 was excited about math and wanted to start something new. Our only hangup was penmanship. It’s almost as if he forgot about being neat.
We started back on Monday, dad was home but we got a lot done. I do wish it was summer break though. This year is just going as planned? Dont’ know why or what’s different. I think it’s just me. But at least the main things are getting done.
