I have been considering the GAPS diet for our family for several months now. I have not read the book, but what I have gathered from blogs and forums, I believe this diet would be very beneficial to our family. We already practice traditional cooking in our home, so I don’t think the diet would be a HUGE transition. I do think it’s a big step, however, and wanted to know if any of you have used the GAPS diet successfully with your families.
I am trying to find a reasonably priced copy of the book to begin reading. I think the onset of cooler weather will make it easier for us to consume massive amounts of broths and soup, much easier than it would have been had we tried this during the recent hot summer.
Any feedback on the diet is welcome: positive, negative, or indifferent. How did your husband respond? Children? You? What was the worst part? What results did you experience?
Maybe you should send a PM to Joanna Rammell. (She would be notified by email & get the PM.) She mentioned in her “farewell for awhile” post that she was starting the GAPS diet. Perhaps she’ll let you know how things have gone with that.
Hey Lindsey, we did it for 2 or 3 months and are still on an almost GAPS diet still. You’ll probably need to get the book from the library or buy it new…after months of searching I was never able to find an inexpensive copy. Most of us keep them for reference because you need to read it and re-read it. And yes, starting it in fall/winter is much easier than in the middle of a hot Texas summer!
I know we’ve emailed back and forth, but if you have any further questions, just let me know!
Heather
