Has anyone here used the PASS test by Hewitt? I like the set-up for it, as it seems more gentle; it is my son’s first time taking a test like this.
We only have to test every 3 years and don’t have to turn it in, but I guess I need to confirm that it’s an acceptable option. First I was justing wanting some feedback on it.
I used it this year It was very easy to use and it confirmed exactly where we were. LOL! I could have told exactly how they scored before I even got the results. simply because I am their teacher and mom. Out of five children, I was only off on one. (we need to work on telling the main point of a paragraph with that one child.)
That will be corrected easily! Starting in July with our new school year, we will be using SCM, I think that will take care of that all by itself. (I should have stuck to Charlotte Mason’s methods when I first heard about them years ago!)
Next year I will be working with K thru 12th grade and six children instead of 5. I’m glad for a chance to make “school” even more home friendly.
Enjoy your school years and this test will give you a great review and confirmation of what you already know about your son’s abilities.
I don’t know what your state laws are. My guess would be to do it similar to public school; which would put testing any time near the end of your school year. Most public schools test about 1 to 2 months before school is out. Then, they do the end of their ‘book” testing with just enough time to grade and put out a “report card.”
Maybe someone else will chime in soon with more knowledge of this soon
