My girls and I are really enjoying the history module 1. I’m using a children’s Bible reader that is written for Eastern Orthodox 3rd graders, and I love it. But I notice that sometimes the stories don’t exactly line up with the schedule, so I’m doing a lot of juggling.
Are there any other Orthodox moms on here, and if so what do you use for the Bible readings?
Thanks! We’re really enjoying our first month with SCM.
Oops forgot to put what we use for Bible readings. We also use the Children’s Bible Reader and we just read one story each day. When we get through the whole thing we switch to A Sacred History for Children and read all the way through that and then switch back.
During advent this year we will be doing the Jesse Tree so we will be doing the daily readings from that.
Hi! I’ve never heard of A Sacred History for Children, I’ll look that one up. Thanks!
We are using ‘Lessons in the Old Testament’ written by St John of San Francisco Academy. It’s a free download from Paidea Classics. We are so impressed with it, and it has a bit more in each chapter, with lots of commentary pertaining to the faith.
This is an old post, but I’m new and Orthodox so I thought I’d say “hey”
Would love to know of any other EO resources you’ve added to the awesome SCM list!
