We’re working on them now, MKC. I just spoke with the author of the new Ancient Egypt book, and she is coming along nicely.

For Joshua through Malachi, the replacement books are The Parthenon by Elizabeth Mann and A Young Macedonian in the Army of Alexander the Great by Alfred Church. You can view a quick summary of how to substitute these on the Links & Tips page for the Joshua through Malachi and Ancient Greece’s handbook. A more detailed summary will be forthcoming.

For Matthew through Acts, the replacement books will be The Roman Colosseum by Elizabeth Mann and six biographies from the early church, read from either Peril and Peace (Volume 1 in the History Lives series) or Trial and Triumph. I’m still working on the lesson rearranging for this one, but it looks like most of the changes will be in terms 2 and 3. I plan to post a summary of those changes as soon as they are finalized too.

Eventually we will be releasing new editions of those three handbooks with the replacement books written into the lesson plans, but we want to make those change summaries available to everyone who has a previous edition so they don’t have to purchase a new one if they don’t want to.

Thank you, Sonya – that is very helpful.

I am new to this site and very excited about starting the first history module with my eight year old son. I think I will try inter-library loan for the Oxford at this point, and then use the new resources in the following years. I just can’t find the Oxford at a price I can justify.

Thank you for all you do!
