We are enrolled in a Charter School and thus I am required to submit Learning Records for my kids each month. In the past, my CM ways have been cumbersome to translate into a record which, more and more, the school is needing to be quantified with page numbers or chapter numbers, to look more “curriculum-ish”. I could never remember to write down the pages we read during the week, and at the end of the month, it was always a scramble to put together my record!
The CM Organizer has made my life SO MUCH easier! I probably use it a little differently than originally intended. I schedule all of my resources for everyday. Of course, we don’t do everything, every day, but since my primary objective is to keep a record…not necessarily to direct my day…it works best this way for me.
Each day, I simply check off what we did. Then, at the end of the Learning Period, I print off a report for each child within the specified dates. And voila! A beautiful Learning Record, WITH page numbers and/or Chapter Titles spews from my printer! It is so, so great.
I will add that I first input of my resources for the year into the “Added Resources”. Somethings, like literature, I do “queue” so that the next title will pop up when we finish the current title. But, most resources I just schedule as we get to them.
