    CNN study: Schoolyard bullies not just preying on the weak

    This was sent to me by a mom at church whose kids are in ps. It makes me sad for those schooled kids and ever more thankful that mine are home with me. 

    I know hs kids can bully and be bullied, but the dynamic is so different when they are with us as they are.

    On this subject what do you do though when it’s happening right in your home between siblings?  How do you get it to stop?  Not a big thing lately but we go through times where everyone is just being rude, mean and outright spitefull to eachother.

    This past weekend my mom & I were at a book sale, and these 2 girls who were obviously college age were SO ANNOYING going gaga over all these really high school-ish, not really very good for anyone kinds of books. Vampires, questionable morals, etc – those kinds of books. Obviously should have been WAY under their reading level. I did hear one of them say something about college, but they acted like 8th graders.

    Anyway, so Mom & I were discussing them in the car afterwards, and I said to her, “THAT’S why I homeschool.” We talked about why they were reading such bad books and way below their reading level, and I said, it’s all they know! We rarely read a classic in high school, and even when we did, we picked it apart and it wasn’t fun. The books they choose now are below normal reading levels because they read so much twaddle (and I must say, that’s a much better word than another I could have used LOL) in the earlier years that they don’t know how to *read.*
