Several times I’ve read posts where someone mentions that they don’t know how to share a file via the forum. If you would like to share files – pdf, exel, word, etc., there is a website – http://www.box.net, that allows you to do so for free. You simply need to create an account, upload your files. Then, to share them, click share and copy the link.
I use this to share files on this site from time to time and it’s painless.
I have accessed files before from box.net and it does indeed work well. Another site that I have used – well, I have downloaded from, is scribd.com. The blogs “Hearts and Trees” and “Handbook of Nature Study” (which alot of us rely on) use scribd.
I have recently started storing alot of files with an online service, for backup and for ease of access. I have been using zumodrive.com, and it is working out very well. They offer free filesharing links, like box.net, although I have never used that feature. I can access all the files I link to this “cloud drive” from any of my now three home computer, or my Ipod touch through their free app. It updates my backup automatically as long as the folder is linked to the zumodrive – so no extra steps.
Since I wanted to back up all my photos, I had more data than their free service offered – but it is cheap, only 2.99 per month, compared to 9.95 at most other sites. I feels so good to know that those pics are safely out of my hard drive! I would hate to lose them.
There is so much to learn! And so many possibilities! File sharing is one way that technology has changed our lives for the better, I think.
