What age are these for. The SCM bookfinder lists them k-3 but my 5th grade dd loves, loves, loves this book. She is reading it independently for science and wants to read all the “Among the….” books. Is it to far below her level for her to learn anything. She does tell me interesting facts after reading it. I tried adding in “research” on two days, just letting her look up the animals she encounters in the book in one of our animal encyclopedias. But I often catch her reading the book instead of doing the “research”. I love that she loves these books, but I also want her to be learning a little science as well. We are also doing the SCM bird study together so maybe I should just let her enjoy the books? What does everyone think? FYI She adores animals and wants to be a vet when she grows up.

    Hi Crystal,
I think you are right on the recommended age range for these. In my opinion, I would let her keep reading these if she is enjoying them. Perhaps you could read aloud another book or two along the way that might be a bit more challenging to her?

    Best to you!
