    I am looking for a book similar to Gail Gibbons’ book, Planet Earth/Inside Out. I like the illustrations and the general discussion of the earth’s inner and outer structure, but the first few pages are specifically Big Bang Theory, which I’m trying to avoid at this point.

    I am looking for a good alternative, not too terribly long, with good illustrations, suitable for 5th or 6th grade level. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    The only book that immediately comes to mind is “How to Dig a Hole to the Other Side of the World” by Faith McNulty, which deals with the inner earth. It’s written for younger children, but you may find it useful. Also, I’ve been known to glue those types of pages together in an otherwise good book. {gasp}
