Is there any elementary level overview of world history book that covers what CHOW does but with more accuracy? Thanks!

Alicia, what sections or chapters are troublesome for you? I know many, myself included, simply skip the first 5.

Yes, I had planned on skipping the first 5 chapters if we end up using it. I was ok with that.

I was looking through it today, and one part in chapter 9 said that Abraham didn’t like his neighbors, the Babylonians because they worshipped idols and they didn’t like him because he belived in only one God. Maybe this is possibly true in one aspect – just don’t remember reading this in the Bible.

in chapter 36 it talks about how Titus robbed the temple of all its valuable ornaments – they were more than just decorations.

Then right after that, also in chapter 36, it says that eventhough Titus “massacred so many Jews”, “he was not such a bad emperor as you might suppose.”

I love the format but it seems that there are many items that would have to be discussed/explained.

You could check out  “A Little History of the World” by  Gombrich

I haven’t read all of it but it seems pretty nice.  No idea if it would have similar issues or not…

My dc are really enjoying CHOW. I have been pre-reading the chapters and skipping a few sentences here and there. When it comes to Bible stories, I like to read them straight from the Bible or give “my” condensed version of it. The only accurate history book is the Bible.

    That’s true, Missy.

    Thanks for the feedback, all!
