Alternate Bible resource or skip lesson?

In Module 1, lesson 111: Pictures of Jesus the only resource listed is to use the Exodus Commentaries.  Since I am only teaching a 1st grader I opted to skip out on using this resource.  Is there another resource that I could use in explaining how Christ is depicted in the laws?  Or will I just have to skip this lesson altogether?  I think covering the topic would be beneficial, but I don’t know how to go about it and do it right w/o a good resource.

I actually used that resource w/ my 1st grader last year. The readings were a bit too lengthy for her attention span, so I read ahead and skipped the parts that were repetitive or that I thought could be done without. We liked that resource, and I hope to use it again when my children are older. I learned a lot from it as the teacher! We used Exodus Commentary for Children every time the lesson suggested it.

I suppose you could read the Exodus Commentary selection prior to teaching that lesson and then give her a brief narration of the high points.

Maybe I can find someone who owns the book.  Otherwise, we may just do a discussion on how Christ came to fulfill the Law and that we cannot attain the Law on our own.  I’m not sure if that is what the Commentary covers for this particular lesson, but we’ll figure something out.

The commentary has a lot of pointing out Jesus and His grace despite the Law and how we could never obtain perfection in the Law, so we needed a Savior. It does a beautiful job of explaining it, much better than I just did. Wink I am glad we have the book. I hope that one day, perhaps when we repeat Module 1, the children can read it on their own to further their OT studies.

I wondered if that might be where this lesson was going.  Wish I had the book now.  I’ll just discuss it with her best I can.  Thanks for your help!
