I REALLY want to purchase this, and am seriously considering putting it on my birthday list. For those of you who’ve “done” it have you watched/enjoyed it all in one day or broken it up over many? I’ve read recently about a few people who’ve done their own conferences at home and I gave it a go. Had someone watch the children for a couple of days while I enjoyed listening to various homeschool chats including a couple from SCM. I absolutely loved the chats from SCM and that’s inspired the desire to do the All Day dvds.
I’d be curious to know how you chose to listen/watch them! 😀
I actually just bought this a month ago and have already watched it. I have four boys and I just had the older ones play outside or in their room. My two year old just played with legos and dinosaurs in the room with me and then played in his room for awhile. I learned a long time ago that complete silence is not an option and I better learn to concentrate with noise. I made it through the seminar in two days. I would simply stop the DVD when my little one needed attention or a drink/snack. I learned with him, that sometimes he only needs five minutes of focused attention on him and then he can go back to playing independently for quite a while. I did not feel that I lost anything from starting and stopping the DVD’s. Sonya is an excellent speaker and the seminar was packed full of info. After watching it, I told myself that the information she provided was priceless. I took alot of notes and thoroughly enjoyed the material presented. It made the CM education much clearer for me. I just switched to CM for this upcoming year and I didn’t know anything about it before finding Simply Charlotte Mason. I now feel that I have a really good grasp on this type of education and I am ready to implement it in our home. I hope this helps. I also highly recommend the DVD/Notebook Planning Your Charlotte Mason Education. It is very helpful.
I just watched the seminar a couple of weeks ago. I broke it up in segments while the little one was napping and my older two children were playing quietly. It took me close to a week to watch it this way with a few interruptions, but it worked pretty well for me. The seminar is divided into 3 sections, one on each disc. The first disc is short, so I was able to complete it in one sitting. The others took a couple of days each to complete.
This also gave me time to chew over the new material before I watched more of the seminar. However, I think doing it with a group would be fun, too. I purchased the version with LDTR, and I still need to watch it.
I’ve been watching The All Day Seminar with friends of mine, it’s taken awhile since everyone’s schedule is a bit different. I’ve read so much and have already had almost 2 full school years CM so I don’t mind waiting. My friends are newer to CM so they lean on me a bit for the “how to’s” (that’s kind a scary…I’m so new myself, but I try)…that’s why we watch together. They like to stop the dvd’s and talk about the topic…and you know how women are once they start talking, right??
Planning Your CM Education I’ve watched on my own (in the bedroom) when dh is home so I can get through more than I would during the day when he’s not here.
Each dvd I have (or book) from SCM has had a wealth of information that I would not want to have with this method (or just homeschooling for that matter). Enjoy!
I really want this too…. and when it looked like we were going to have a few books I sent my dh a list with links of a few things that I thought would be the most helpful… and it was one my dh said “yes” right off to….
then we had something come up, so we no longer had the money. sigh. Someday. (we have pretty much $0 budget for homeschooling… I am the queen of finding free or very inexpensive materials.) I have been considering doing a seminar to get it….. maybe next year….
Just wanted to add the the “planning your CM education” ebook was one of the few purchases I have made over the years… and it was worth every single penny!!!
