All About Spelling…. CM friendly?

    Is this program CM friendly? I have a dd (13) who struggles with spelling, and since we are just moving over to the CM way, I am unsure what is CM friendly and what is not?

    I looked through the samples in Spelling Wisdom, and I know there would be struggles with  the longer passages. Unless Im reading the directions wrong, they study the passage however long it may take them, and then we dictate and they write it out, correct? Some of  the passages in book one sample looked long. If Im wrong about this please let me know, as I am still ordering my CM curriculum guide.

    Write now I have been doing dictation from the Bible, and we correct immediately. I am unsure if she could write out a longer passage, and so I was sifting through older posts and saw several good points made about the program All About Spelling. I went to the sight and read through the sample and I really liked what I saw.

    Im trying to make  the best decision in curriculum, and I want to stay CM friendly in all that we do. I would love to hear your reviews and opinions. Thank you so much

    With longer passages, covingtonclan, the student should study/prepare the whole thing, but you can select just a portion to have them actually write.

    I consider All About Spelling CM friendly but I’m not an “expert”.  I don’t really consider it dictation though.  I’d use something different for dictation (like the Bible which you’re doing).

    Went ahead this morning and tried a longer passage in the bible, and surprisingly she did very well. I think I may have been a little hasty in my decision that Spelling Wisdom would be too hard.

    I allowed her to study the verse several minutes, and we went over whatever words she was unsure of. It went perfect! I guess possibly it may be the other programs that have caused all this doubt. I feel much better, and will go ahead placing my order for Spelling Wisdom.
