    Hi Tina,

I’m not from Alaska, but I’d love to leave the sweltering FL heat during my pregnancy and come for an extended visit!Wink The North Pole – that sounds GREAT to me right now!!!

    Blessings,

    Christie

PS – I hope you find some other locals who like CM.

I am a part time Alaska resident, but not as far north as you are. We are in Ketchikan for several months each fall/winter and I have several friends who live there year round and are CM homeschoolers…what fun it would be to actually visit the North Pole!

My dh has been out west to Dutch Harbor and the Aleutians many times fishing, and to Anchorage etc, but not inland at all-what is life like there for you??

    Hi all,

What a small world we live in. I am also from Alaska. I am from Prince of Wales island, which is very near to Ketchikan. How exciting to have a few on here from our big state with a small population. Heidi are many of your CM homeschoolers from SE Alaska? So far I have meet no one that is a Charlotte Mason homeschooler.

Christie we are having a hot and dry summer for us. I am not sure if you would find much relief. Although I guess upper 80’s is probably much cooler than what you must be having. The best relief for our family has been to go out on the ocean and catch fish. Almost none of the homes here have airconditioning so we are making due the best we can. I am so thankful for how God has provided immense numbers of berries and salmon this year. The last couple of summers were very wet and the salmon were scarce.

I’m in Jacksonville, FL (northeast part of state). It’s in the upper 90s – 100s with major humidity, so 80 sounds great, though no A/C might be an adjustment.

So, when can I come?  I’m due mid-December, so I promise to leave in a few months before I deliver; my older 3 would not like missing out on the birthday celebration of their baby brother.Laughing

My husband is a carpenter, so we have quite a few rentals. If you did the expense to get here we could probably find a place for you. Although this summer has been amazing for renting out places. There is such a high demand that we have moved into a to bedroom apartment to accomadate all of the people coming here for jobs. I am due in mid-November and already have three as well. I believe that this child will be a big adjustment for us all. Until this point I have always had a baby or toddler. Our family was just getting to be some-what easy and my husband was contemplating going to central or south America for the winter months. My youngest out of the womb just turned three. It well be an adjustment to jump back in the baby mode. However, I am pretty certain that as soon as we see our little one all of the work will seem worth it. I told my husband the day that we found out that we were pregnant that our child will be worth waiting three years to go into missions or travel abroad. He doesn’t feel comfortable travelling with little ones. I am willing to go down there and maybe even have a baby in Mexico. We have some friends that have done that. I guess I will just have to be patient and trust that God will direct our family and hopefully use these years to prepare us for what lies ahead.

My uncle lives lives in NE part of Fl. I enjoyed the one time that I had visited there. Maybe some raining and miserable summer I will be in your neck of the woods again. How old are your children? Mine are 6 1/2, 5, 3 and one due in November. Well I best get off to womans bible study. I hope that you all are having wonderful summers.

    Kallie,

Mine are 8 (girl), 5 (boy), 2 (girl) and I’m due with a boy in December. Maybe I should bring the kids and they would have a great time with yours!Laughing I know what you mean about life getting easy and having another one. I had told my husband that if we wanted #4 it had to be before #3 was all the way potty trained b/c I didn’t want to go back there! Well, here we are and #3 is well on her way to being all the way trained, but I know the work will be worth it, too.

My husband doesn’t like long distance or overseas travel until they are at least 1.5, so I don’t know that he will take us on his next short term trip to Dominica in March as we’d planned, but we’ll see if I can convince him to bring a 3 month old.

If you’re ever in Jacksonville, we’d love to have you!

    Christie
