AIG – Can experiments be done independently?

I was following Lindsey’s thread on AIG for science.  We’re leaning towards AIG as well, but I have one specific question:

I’m hoping someone who has experience with this curriculum can tell me whether the experiments and activities can be done independently (with total ease, even if I were not in the room).  My older boys are aching for some school areas that are ALL theirs, so I’m hoping this could be it.  My thinking is that I might be able to (properly) focus on school matters specific to the littles while the older kids do the hands-on part of science. Yes, it means it’s not as much along the lines of a family subject, but I am okay with that at this point.

Students in question on this independent idea would be 5th grade and 6th grade.

    Thanks in advance!  Angie

Bump.    Hoping someone using AIG God’s Design for Science can tell me whether it’s suitable for independent work, at the grades 5, 6, 7 age level.  Particularly the experiments, extra activities or labs (if any).

    Anyone?
