    I like to read aloud to them and they read on their own. Sonya said to read a book over a  minimum of 12wks. per subject. What age group? Is this read aloud or not? Would I only pick 1 for a read aloud per subject per term and ? for non read aloud?

    I’m kind of confused.

    Actually, Cyndi, how many books you choose and how long it takes to read them is entirely based on the length and difficulty of the books. If a book is short, it may not take 12 weeks to read it; it if it long, it may take 48 weeks. Charlotte did encourage us to spread out the readings and take time to digest smaller bits rather than wolfing down an entire book at once. But how long each book takes depends on the book itself.

    That is for living books that I choose for “school”.  What about their free reading time?  I’m trying to figure out how many books for their free reading time, I will need to buy for the year approx. I know I won’t be able to get very many living books  from our library.

    For free reading, I think your idea is fine.
