After Hymns in Prose Cursive?

Both my children are still doing cursive copywork out of SCM’s Hymns in Prose. They are nearly finished with the book. For ds, who is almost 9, I feel he no longer needs copywork. His cursive is beautiful, his print is neat and readable, and I feel more copywork would lead to monotony and boredom; he has been doing copywork for four years now, cursive for two of that. So I may transition him to journaling or his Book of Mottoes, I’m not sure.

For dd 7 1/2, however, I don’t know what to do. She definitely still needs practice and copywork would do her good. Her print and cursive both need work, probably her print more than her cursive. Any ideas on a next step after Hymns in Prose Cursive?

    Thanks,

    Lindsey

Do you think she is ready to copy from a book, or would she still need a handwriting model to copy from?

You know, Sonya, that is a good question. Some words she copies very well from a printed model; others, not so much. One of her sensory problems is that she is behind in visual-motor integration, so writing/copying has always been difficult for her. I suppose I could try having her copy from a book and just see what happens.

Or even a printout of a short passage with larger font size?
